Biography:

Dr. Charles Creusere received his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Davis in 1985, and his M.S. and Ph.D in the same area from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1990 and 1993, respectively. Prior to attending graduate school, Dr. Creusere worked as a design engineer at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, where he designed the guidance electronics for the Laser Guided Training Round. In 1989, he was awarded educational fellowship from the U.S. Navy/Department of Defense to study signal processing at UCSB, where he worked with Prof. Sanjit Mitra on areas related to multirate filter banks and image/audio compression. After completing his Ph.D in late 1993, he returned to China Lake and began focusing his research efforts on embedded image and video compression, emphasizing in particular implementation and complexity issues. In January of 2000, Dr. Creusere began work at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces as an Assistant Professor.
