Admissions

Undergrad Admissions

Freshmen

Incoming freshmen need to meet the university admission requirements.  The requirements listed on university admission page also explain what is needed for home schooled students.

In addition to the NMSU requirements, the Klipsch School highly recommends that the incoming students go beyond the state-mandated graduation minimums and be ready to enroll in Math 191 - Calculus I, Chem 111 - General Chemistry, and English 111 - English Composition as a minimum.  Any AP credit in these areas will be helpful.

Transfer Students

Incoming transfer need to meet the university transfer student qualifications.  There is a NMSU transfer guide that will be helpful in this process.  The university and the Klipsch School will determine which classes transfer into the BSEE degree program.  Generally, transfer credit from an ABET-accredited school will transfer easier than credits from an non-ABET accredited school.

Changing NMSU Majors to ECE

Students who wish to transfer from another NMSU major to ECE must follow this two-step process:

  • Visit with Dr. Sheila Horan in the ECE main office (T&B 106) to discuss your plans, review the curriculum, and determine how the existing classes in your program will fit into the degree program.
  • After visiting with Dr. Horan, you will be directed to Ms. Cindy Adair in the office of the Associate Dean of Engineering (Goddard Tower, room 106) to complete the required NMSU record changes to officially bring you into the program.
